The Gadsden Rattler, edited by Rosalie Stafford, is headquartered in Yuma, part of the historic Gadsden Purchase of 1853/1854. Under the terms of this agreement, the United States paid Mexico ten million dollars (currency backed by gold) for a portion of Mexico comprising just under thirty thousand square miles. This territory later became part of southern Arizona and New Mexico.
Commemorative stamp issued 1953
